THE CRYSTAL SKULL
TROPHY DESIGN - THE PADC AWARDS
PROBLEM
The Perth Advertising and Design Awards (The Skulls) represents the height of creative advertising in Western Australia, judged to an international standard by juries from around the world. Success in the professional categories are rewarded with the coveted "Gold Skull", yet the student categories had no equivalent award for winning gold in their respective categories.

SOLUTION
We needed to create an award that somehow related to the existing Gold Skull (without replicating it), yet still carried a similar level of prestige and desire for the student categories.

The solution was a series of MRI scans of what appeared to be the Gold Skull, laser etched into a series of perspex slides. This represented an x-ray view into the mind of award winning creatives, and symbolised the blueprint for creative minds of future success.
It was held together with a robust nylon bolt which allowed it to stand strong, with each panel able to swivel independantly to view the finer details at at level.
